Since Gail asked Jesus into her life at the age of 15, she is very aware of how important it is to reach children at a young age. She became a Local Committee member of Child Evangelism Fellowship of MARCK when she retired from the workplace. Although she was familiar with CEF, she had no idea of the magnitude of what CEF does until she became involved. Every week hundreds of children in the MARCK area learn about how they can have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. She feels privileged to be a part of this important ministry.

Sue Packard, at eight years of age gave her life to Jesus in a Sunday School class. Realizing her sinful heart, she knew she desperately needed Jesus. Sue confessed her sin and repented that day. By that time, her family was established in a good Bible-believing church, and she became active in Sunday School, Pioneer Girls and Youth Group. Memorizing Scripture was a big part of her training, for which she is most grateful. Sue thought she was merely “winning Bible memory contests.” Little did she realize how very important those verses would become later in life. The Bible the church gave her in second grade became a treasure to her. Sue has volunteered at a Good News Club® since 1999 until Covid closed the in-person GNCs down in 2020.  She has been a Local Committee member since 2011, serving as assistant secretary.

As an elementary-age child, Shirley attended a GNC where she recognized she was a sinner in need of a Savior. Shirley has been a CEF of MARCK Local Committee Member for at least 12 years and serves as the Fundraising Chairperson in charge of the Coins-4-Kids campaign, the Annual Fundraising Banquet, and the In His Steps grant. She has taught GNC’s in the past, but now assists Dale with administrative responsibilities as well as writes the outlines for the Bible lessons.

I have been involved with CEF for 13 years, first as a teacher, then as the Ashland County Coordinator and committee member. I asked Jesus to be my Savior at nine years of age at a Billy Graham crusade. I know it’s true that when a child asks Jesus into their life, He is faithful! I have benefited greatly by the training of CEF and the clear presentation of the Gospel message to share with the children and adults! I have been married 41 years to my husband Larry. We have three grown children and seven beautiful grandchildren. I am thankful to serve alongside all of these who serve our Great King in CEF and to help further this work.

Jon is a financial advisor who strives to help individuals align their resources with their values. Before this, he was the finance and human resources director at a large church, where he helped the organization through financial crises, leadership transitions, and building renovations—ultimately helping the organization achieve a debt-free status, strong financial reserves, and healthy operational systems.  Jon previously worked for Youth for Christ and Campus Crusade for Christ. For 10 years, he directed a non-profit association of churches. This organization provided a healthy outlet for young adults to worship, serve, and grow in knowledge of the Lord.  Outside of work, Jon treasures time with his wife, Emily, and their children, Eli and Emma. Nature and outdoor activities like soccer, cycling, hiking, and gardening rejuvenate him. He's also an accomplished musician and public speaker, who ultimately hopes his life is known for commitment to faith, family, community, and fun.

Barbara Long worships and resides in Mansfield with her husband, John, of 52 years. They are enjoying their semi-retirement years by embracing each day the Lord gives. They are blessed with two daughters and sons-in-law as well as six grandchildren. Barb retired from Mansfield Christian School where she served as Finance Director, for 31 years, and has recently returned to work for MCS in the Admissions and Development offices. She has a passion for serving the Lord and making an impact on the lives of young people. At this time she is looking forward to serving on the CEF board and using her God-given gifts. We are grateful to God that Barb will be assisting our CEF chapter on the Finance Sub Committee. A favorite verse of Barb’s is: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3: 5 & 6
